- Memos & stuff:
Obvious option #1. Just a place where you can just quickly jot down anything important that you'll use sometime. Like shopping lists, basic planning, to-do lists, quick calculations if you need to work something out, etc. This can also be used when you don't have a specific notebook handy at the moment. I like to make this notebook able to fit inside a pocket.
*NOTE*
Also, I should mention: I'll be 100% honest, this can all be divided into different notebooks for organisation's sake, but for me personally, I find that all the limitations that books have for really specific uses is quite demotivating. Like, who are you to tell me where to write what specific thing, hm????? (I'm kidding, but I'm serious about the demotivation part)- Journal/Diary
Obvious option #2. Just log down your thoughts in the moment, or recount whatever's happened to you. This also includes stuff you just really want to get off your chest, hypothetical letters (or stuff you'd want to tell to people but can't (or shouldn't, if that's for the best). This book is probably best kept private)
- Dreams
If you remember your dreams pretty well first thing after you wake up, log them down here. If you don't remember them well, perhaps this book could help your recalling skills.
- Idea log (art/creative-specific)
If you're a creative person, a book that separates your creative ideas from your diary entries is good to keep. Anything from art/writing/music ideas, drafts for writing/poems/lyrics/whatever you do, thumbnails, website/blog ideas - anything really, as long as it's creative.
- Stuff you should probably tell a counsellor and/or etc.
Sometimes, you want to get a professional (or maybe just even someone cloase) to get some insight on your head, and maybe you're worried you might forget some important details about yourself when you're talking to them. But you don't want them to take a peep at your private, personal diary, either. That considered, this notebook could come in handy. And plus, this could provide a more objective look at yourself that isn't so emotionally-charged compared to when you're actually in the moment of things, too.
- Recipes
Anything to do with the kitchen from stuff passed down by relatives or friends to stuff you find from the internet or some cookbook. And that's it.
- Sketches/doodles
Sketch and doodle anything. Just a place to let your hand free. Don't have to put in any full-blown pieces or anything of high quality (you can if you want, but you should allow for some low-effort stuff, too). And no, you don't have to be good at drawing to have one of these. Also who knows? Might lead somewhere, y'know...
- A song book with chords
You know how to play a couple chords on any instrument? Or know someone else who does? That's great. After grabbing some song lyrics, just slap them in the notebook and note the chords that go along with them. You don't have to be good at singing. Or even be the one to actually play from this notebook.
- School/uni/work stuff
Basically a place where you write any notes to do with school/uni/work. That's it.
- List of passwords
APPARENTLY, it's not recommended to use one password for everything. So, I decided to keep a notebook to jot down any passwords along with their respective accounts.
- Nice fond memories with/messages from people to look back on
If you want to feel better about yourself, maybe this could be something that can help with that. Copy/paste anything nice/meaningful that's been said to you/about your work, fond/funny conversations or whatever. Maybe you just need a place for stuff like that.
- Media bucket list
This is pretty specific for me because I'm not all that caught up with pop-culture and essential films/shows/video games/etc. Anyways, anything you want to get into but haven't got round to doing so goes here.
- More to come...?
