Here's my first attempt at writing something in a stageplay format (out side of that script writing class I took last winter). I took a little story idea that I had and decided to try to turn it into a play, which I have no idea is ever going to exist. Anyways, if I ever get this story done, this could look good in a portfolio!
SCENE ONE
FIRE SAFETY
Students of various year levels and an OSHC Staff Member are present in the room.
NARRATOR. It is 2011. Here we are at an Out of School Hours Care building. There has just been a discussion about what to do in the event of a fire and everyone's about to be let off to do their own things.
OSHC STAFF. Now everyone, that was some excellent discussion today and I'm very pleased with your cooperation. That should be about everything important to mention about what to do, but before I let you all go, are there any questions that you want to ask?
Silence.
OSHC STAFF. Well! I guess, off you go, then-- Hold on, (points at YOUNG ___) yes, ___?
YOUNG ___. (Mumbling, almost inaudibly) What if during a fire one of us was really constipated?
The group of children laugh briefly.
OSHC STAFF. What was that, sweetie? I didn't hear that.
YOUNG ___. (Mumbling a tiny bit louder) What if there was a fire and one of us was taking a fat dump?
OSHC STAFF. You’re asking… if in the event of a fire, what if one of you were “taking a fat dump” and you had to evacuate, is that what you said?
YOUNG ___. Yes.
OSHC STAFF. Wh– Well! Now, how do I answer that? (Beat) Well, uh, I don't know - either you do it quickly or you take it outside!
YOUNG ___. Thank you.
OSHC STAFF. O...kay. Are there any more questions?
Silence.
OSHC STAFF. Well then! I suppose we're finished now. Once again, thank you for participating in this discussion, and have a great rest of your day.
The children all walk away to do their own thing. Eventually, so does the OSHC staff member.
